About BOOMj.com

My First impression of BoomJ.com was the same as ones who meets an over 30’s person who looks cool first time but later you find out the boring part ;) ,BoomJ has got Web 2.0 skin but in the inside its not even Web 1.0 at least that’s what i think. The Website took ages to load for me on dialup the website is graphics heavy.

BOOMj.com Features

Boomj has all of the features that you expect from a normal Web 2.0 Social Networking site, the features included are blogs, video, friends, relationships then a lot of commercial stuff which includes travel deals, financial information, health and wellness and celebrity gossip,i would expect over 30’s people to find financial information rather than socialize with each other.

  2. I agree with you about the whether this BOOMj site really is Web2.0 (let alone Web3.0) at this point, although in fairness to them, it is a brand new site and presumably still in development.I think an important point here is that this is not just another site for Boomers, this is the first big site for Boomers and Generation Jones, and that is a huge distinction.

Generation Jones (the long-lost generation between the Boomers and Xers, born 1954-1965, 26% of all U.S. adults) has been receiving huge media attention in Western Europe, and now increasingly in the U.S. Boomers and Jonesers were both born during the post-WWII 20-year boom in births, but they were raised with very different experiences, which is why so many credible organizations and individuals have been validating the GenJones concept, and spending big chunks of cash targeting Jonesers in business and politics.

What I see as amost significant in this new BOOMj site is that it is taking the offline buzz and interest in GenJones and giving it a home online. If BOOMj succeeds, I’d bet it will be largely because of their seperating Jonesers from Boomers.

  4. I completely agree with you, Janice. If BOOMj does succeed, it will be because of the enthusiasm of GenJoneses. I’ve had countless conversations in recent years with other friends and relatives of mine who are also GenJoneses, and I know several of them immediately went to check out BOOmj as soon as they heard about it. There are so many of us GenJoneses who are sick and tired of being falsely labeled as Boomers, that I think BOOmj can really benefit from our being disgruntled. I think tons of GenJoneses will check out BOOMj whaen they hear that there’s finally a website for us, but the whether they continue to visit the site will largely depend on whether BOOmj delivers the goods…

  5. I am so glad to find out that I am not a late Boomer but actually a late Joneser. I really thing their tag line should have been something that basically said it was a myspace for grown ups. I think it actually is going to be competing with the likes of LinkedIn.com rather than MySpace.

Now I need to go find an anthem for the Jonesers as My Generation is take by those older guys. There must be something from The Clash or U2 we can use. :)

  6. I do not agree. Boomj is basically a web 3.0 site. It has shopping, video and social networking and is really easy (in my opinion) to navigate. It also is cool because it has a ton of content, so it is really a content rich portal which i think could really catch on. One problem for some of you could be that dial-up is not what this website is made for - because of the video aspect of the site broadband is practically necessary.
