G.ho.st - Web 2.0 Virtual Computer

Well here is another awesome and FREE Web 2.0 Application that is very useful too so what is G.ho.St well G.ho.St is short for Global Hosted Operating SysTem,G.ho.st is a bit hard to write so from now i am going to write it simple as Ghost so what actually is Ghost we know its some sort of Online Operating System but what does it do ?Well its a very cool attractive Web 2.0 Personal Computer that comes fully loaded with Web2.0 applications in a single online file system.I will now explain its features and How to’s
G.ho.St Features
When you open Ghost be sure to allow Popup Windows from G.ho.st as it opens the Online Desktop in a new Window if you try opening it in the same window the design might be distorted so lets go on our tour now you need to register for a free account that i did it in almost no time. one thing i should warn its built in Flash so dialup users will have to wait quite a bit for it to load.Once you are logged in you are presented with the Ghost interface which is very similar to Windows.
Widgets
the desktop already has a sticky Note Widget and a Clock widget on your Ghost Desktop which you can drag and move like in a real desktop,Accessories include Clock, Calculator, Ghost Notes, Yahoo Weather and Stickis.
G.ho.St Windows
There are 3 Windows already a open a Ghost Homepage a Directory which contains your Folders and my Items Explorer which Holds your Items, all the windows have the usual Minimize, Resize and Close Buttons,There is also a Built in Browser while .The Built in My VC feature lets you see your Ghost account statistics like how many storage you have used etc.
Customize G.ho.St
Then in Settings there are Desktop Preferences which let you customize your desktop by Setting your own background from the Web , Ghost Image Library or Flickr , You can change your Languages to Deutsche , Arabic etc , also lets you change Windows Colors , Change Fonts and and Font color and also have the option to have the task bar at the bottom or on the Top.
Ghost Storage
The Best feature that makes it stand apart is the option to upload your files from your own PC to Ghost via FTP all you have to do is open your Windows Explorer and type in the Address: ftp://yourGhostID@G.ho.st and once you do that you can just drag files from your PC into the open ftp in windows explorer how’s that.

I have known this service for a long time. However I know web 2.0 services that are better and more reliable than Ghost.
Ghost is still the oldest and the famous Online Desktops though.
Online Desktops are really helpful for business people or for people who are always on the run. But if you have got a laptop you don’t need an Online Desktop.

This is interesting, but one thing that is bugging me is that, why do people use virtual desktops? :S

To Haris and Dj Flush: The benefit of an Online desktop is that you wouldn’t have to lug around your laptop if you do a lot of traveling. It would be like having your computer with you all the time. You could access your files from your computer from a PDA and/or any computer at your fingertips. It is about convenience.
